District Announcements
Laptop Pick-up
The schedule for student laptop pick-up is as follows:

September 2 - Freshmen will pick-up during their orientation from 6pm to 8pm.
September 3 - Freshmen who were unable to attend orientation and Seniors only from 1pm to 3pm.
September 4 - Juniors and Sophomores from 1pm to 3pm.

Please remember your $50 maintenance fee, signed technology agreement and signed responsibility agreement, available here.  Anyone not able to pick-up on these dates should bring their paper work and fee on the first day of school and a laptop will be issued.
 
New Sewickley Township Police K9 Program

The Freedom Area School District is proud to support the New Sewickley Township Police Department’s new K9 Program. As part of our partnership with NSTPD, the district has made our Big Knob Elementary School building and property available to Officer Haburjak and K9 Beny for training. Officer Haburjak and K9 Beny will also make regular visits to our schools on campus so that they will be a familiar part of our team.

Marburger Dairy

The Freedom Area School District is proud to announce that we have established a relationship with Marburger Dairy of Evans City, PA and will be serving locally sourced milk-products in our cafeterias for the 2015-2016 school year. Marburger Dairy purchases milk from the dairy farms within our community to use in products that will be returned to Freedom and served in our cafeterias. FASD – Bringing our Community Together!

Freedom Homecoming Fall Festival
This fall, on the weekend of October 9th and 10th, Freedom Area School District will be hosting a Homecoming Fall Festival.  To make the weekend a success we need your support.  Please consider joining us during the weekend by attending or participating in any of the activities.  To learn more about the events and the schedule for the weekend click on the link below.  The site is in progress and will be updated as more information becomes available, so check back often.

The Financial and Enrollment Climate in Freedom
The Freedom Area School District Board of School Directors would like the community to be aware of the current financial and enrollment climate in the School District. As brief summary report was provided to the public at the June 18, 2015 public meeting of the School Board. Freedom School Board Approves 2015-2016 Calendar


At it's April meeting, the Freedom Area School Board approved the school calendar for the 2015-2016 School Year. Due to construction, the first student day will be Tuesday, September 8, 2015. The last day of school will be Friday, June 10, 2016, with Commencement being held that evening.

Congratulations FHS Press!


Congratulations to Mr. Aaron Fitzpatrick, Ms. Grace Hutchison, and the student-staff of the FHS Press!
 
The American Scholastic Press Association’s Scholastic Newspaper Awards for 2015 were announced last evening. Our high school newspaper, The FHS Press, was recognized as a National First Place winner for Senior High Schools with Less than 500 Students! We were one of 10 school newspapers from across the country to be recognized as First Place Winners!
 
Additionally, Ms. Grace Hutchison, a junior at Freedom Area High School, was recognized for her National Outstanding Editorial. Grace’s editorial, entitled, “Battle of the Sexes: Gender inequality still prevalent issue despite progress,” was recognized as one of four Outstanding Editorials from across the country! Grace wrote this article for the April 2014 issue of the FHS Press as a sophomore on the editorial staff.
 
Please join me in congratulating Mr. Fitzpatrick and his students on this fantastic achievement!

They are yet another example of what makes Freedom great!
